Since our flight wasn't leaving until 8:00 this evening we had time to stop in Redding and visit the famous Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay Exploration Park. It's is a spectacular park they have built here along the Sacramento River. (Of course, we stopped by Costco!)
From Redding down to the "Bay Area" is fertile agricultural land with acres and acres of orchards. As we approached Oakland and San Francisco the traffic became horrendous which is typical. I was glad to have my GPS direct us to the car rental return facility which is a bit off the airport requiring a train ride back to the terminal.
We had a lot of time to kill at the airport so we had dinner, took walks, read our books and caught our 8:00 flight back to Boise.
Overall, it was a great trip! We achieved our goal of reaching Coos Bay! We drove about 1200 miles. The Kia car was awesome - got 35 mpg! The weather was spectacular in the first half, not so much in the second. Towns we liked: Mendocino, Bandon and Crescent City.
Note: We don't know where this is going but the Coronavirus "scare" is underway. The stock market is collapsing, travel restrictions, events being cancelled.....its a mess. So far, Idaho has no cases.
